Sleeve notes for the CD Growing a ring o'roses

Ring a ring o’ roses was a beautiful way we found of sowing seed in new and fertile ground, because we understand song as something which springs from a deep sigh of passion and harmony, from the heart, from sorrows and pleasures. For this reason it leads us to places which seem so far away. Undoubtedly music is the easiest and most pleasant means of socializing knowledge, dreams and wisdom, of sowing the future by spelling out liberty, passion and citizenship. If this has been achieved, it is art, if it has not then it can be entertainment, alienation or some noise or other made solely in the name of success and profit. This album is the fruit of a great joint work. Various militant artists and sympathisers with the Agrarian Reform took part in this beautiful undertaking. It is the first CD of the Landless Movement with children’s songs. It is another well-timed dream coming into being, since it will be an important resource for schools at camps and settlements all over the country. By uniting art and pedagogy we shall therefore form, along with all the little Landless and other Brazilian children and adolescents, a huge educational, poetic, libertarian ring a ring o’ roses.
