Sleeve notes for the CD Art in movement

This is our first CD by means of which we hope to preserve our artistsí most popular compositions from the beginning of the Landless Movement and to present them to the nation. The compositions are about and for the struggle and, now that they have been brought together, express our understanding of our march. Obviously the music of the Sem Terra /Landless does not consist only of the songs we are presenting here. However, other contributions of our cantadores / poet-singers – as important as the ones which we are presenting here – will be the subject of future CDs. In this way, we shall be preserving our memory and revealing ourselves clearly to Brazilian society. We thank all the artists, technicians and other professionals in the music business who supported us and put their knowledge and art to good use in this album. Without you, everything would be much more difficult. We have reached this point. Now we need to continue.
